Lexus Files LFA Trademark
It’s been discovered that Toyota registered “LFA” at US Patent and Trademark Office on December 1st, 2008. It’s been interpreted by many as a positive sign, but this could be seen in two ways:
- Lexus is moving forward with the supercar, and taking care of the name trademark is one of the many steps necessary.
- Lexus doesn’t want anyone else registering “LFA”, regardless of their own plans.
Being an optimist, I believe it’s the former rather than the latter, even though it puts a giant hole in my theory that the LF-A concept was really the new SC. (Also, looks like the name is losing the hyphen.)

So it’s true!!!
Funny how Lexus might be worried about diluting the super car’s status by possibly not making it the next SC. I think this is one time when it IS appropriate to share platforms!
Still I wonder how the value of this potential super car will hold up a year or two or a decade after entering the market.

The more I think about it, the more I believe that this was simply a measure to protect the name.
I still think the LFA will be the new SC, it fits so well.
