Lexus Japan releases Red-Edge Black Interior for the IS
The IS also received an interior treatment from Lexus Japan, with the Red-Edge Black Special Edition, very similar to the Meteor Black GS edition:
Loving that red stitching — it’s a great accent color, a real eye-catcher. (Still partial to the red carpet in last year’s Passionate Black interior, though.)
This special edition interior is available in both the IS 250 & IS 350 models, but not the IS convertible or the IS-F. It’s also Japan-only, limited to 500 units, and will be commanding a ¥222,000 ($2,250 USD) premium over the regular model when it goes on sale at the end of March.
The special trim looks to be a brushed metal, but I can’t really tell for sure. Anyone familiar with Japanese want to fill us in?

ya, the metal on the door openers looks less shiny to me. the trim should have been lighter or darker to be more visible though ,or maybe the picture is like that, i dunno..

I’m upset about Lexus North American because the only ones who get the special edition are the Japanese customers.
I never saw in Canada a special interior… too bad for us !

If Canadians’ market statistics showed that they would purchase more ’special edition’ luxury vehicles, I’m sure Lexus would attempt to capitalize on the business opportunity. Same goes for all the other “I wish Lexus would….”. If it doesn’t make money, how could Lexus do it? As much as we are all passionate about cars and how great they are….Toyota and its shareholders have billions of dollars at stake. They aren’t going to just blow it on something because “its cool” or “its fast”.
I would assume that graduates of any Automotive colleges would know this.

That’s the huge flaw that Lexus has.
It’s virtually a 100% business experiment - soulless.
At least the new 2009 RX looks nice in person.

Well your comment applies for every business not only automotive.
Still, As a sub-40 years old Lexus owner, the biggest negative point for me is the interior. The old Fashion wood does not fit whereas other brands provide metal brush or similar more modern interior.
Its also a corporate choice to stick with existing customer rather than trying to attrack younger one.
This said, looking at the GX and RX success with the women customer segment, I understand their priorities
Do you know if Lexus is doing poll regarding the Special Edition ?
