Visual Comparison: Lexus HS 250h vs. Toyota Corolla
There’s been a lot of talk about the Lexus HS 250h resembling the Toyota Corolla, so let’s take a look (and why not throw in the new Prius for good measure). I scaled all the vehicles, so sizing should be close-to-correct:
The resemblance to the Corolla, it turns out, is all in the front nose. From the A-pillar to the rear, the HS looks like a Lexus through and through. On top of that, the size difference between the two is surprising.
Hopefully, this visual comparison gives some perspective (in more ways than one).

Wait…but first, it’s the looks from many perspectives.
…and how about the Avensis? (that car looked pretty big, actually)
Oh! And what about the fact that IS is based on the much larger GS platform? …and that the no-longer in the market Avalon was on an extended Camry platform? …and that the RX is on a modified Camry platform?
Still…Lexus has already proved that they can kinda get away with sharing platforms, which oddly is the most noticeable connection between vehicles.
The biggest deal here is that it still looks too much like a Toyota from most perspectives. What’s worse is that the interior doesn’t look any more upscale than the IS…does that have anything to do with how eco-friendly the vehicle is during and after operation?

Actually, the car wasn’t all that bad when I viewed the live photos, however, I really wished that the HS wasn’t so obviously a FWD …and that the C-pillar was sleeker …and that it was a coupe-ish hatch to make up for the loss of practicality from the sleeker designs.
That wheelbase is just disturbingly short, and those arches above the front wheels remind me of the BMW 1-series’ oddly tiny-looking wheels because of its drooping line on the side panels. Make those wheels bigger!

I really like the HS250h As for the platform I originally thought it was based on the European Avensis, but I think i was wrong because of the fact that the Prius is built for hybrid components. I was listening to a webcast from autoline Detroit and Irv Miller said that the HS 250h shares allot of components from the Prius. Some of the different components are the Suspension and other stuff

I’m almost certain the the HS is built on the Avensis platform.

I feel like the HS is a clever mix between the IS and Corolla. I have very mixed feelings about the HS but i think it will become a very nice alternative to a prius which looks messed up as it is.
I feel like an IS hybrid would maybe sell a little better but a dedicated luxury hybrid can’t be a bad idea. One thing they should have done is make the interior dash area a little less prius like.

Yeah, I had to. The similar colors were distracting from my point.
