Lexus Remote Touch Controller Demonstration
CNet has posted a LA Auto Show recap of the Lexus RX 450h, which includes a demonstration of the new Remote Touch controller:
Looks to be a very impressive solution — my experience with haptic control is limited to the Nintendo Wii, but the continual feedback moving from menu item to menu item is intuitive and highly useable.
(I wouldn’t be surprised to see this control scheme becoming widely used across all cars.)

I think this looks really good, but I keep wondering of you get distracted too much from actually driving the car? A touch screen seems to get the job done easier…

I tried the remote touch demo at the show and although it’s similar to using a computer mouse, I think people will still miss the touch screen.

I think its great! Most people dont like change and once this system is used throughout the line, people will find its better than the touch screen. I have alot of people who find the touch screen a bit annoying because if you dint touch EXACTLY where you want it does not work. I have lady guests with gel/acrylic nails who find this most frustrating.
