Super Street Magazine Reviews the Lexus LS 460

The Lexus LS 460 with Junction Produce Body Kit

It’s far and few between to find an genuinely amusing car review, but Super Street Magazine manages just that with their review of the Lexus LS 460. Here’s a few of the more salient passages:

Enter the LS 460. Right off the bat, this car is pimp. Scratch that, capital P-I-M-P. Plush roomy leather interior with charcoal wood accents, more digital wizardry in the cabin than the Wachowski brothers, solid construction and more room than a Japanese business hotel-the car simply oozes elegance. Equipped with the Comfort Plus Package, the seats even have ass-conditioners!

The exterior is an extension of the Lexus L-finesse, corporate fancy talk for all of them looking alike. But calling an LS a glorified IS would be the understatement of the year.

The suspension and ride of the LS won’t win any Time Attacks, but you pick up chicks, not trophies, in this bad boy. Simply dump, body kit, rim up and enjoy. While the ride might be a little hard, it wasn’t half as hard as turning the keys back to Lexus.

Not exactly a technical dissertation, but still interesting to read a LS 460 review from a perspective more concerned with suspension drops and 21″ rims than horsepower.

Andy Rooney Tracks Down His Old Lexus

When I started this site, never did I think I would see the day where I’d be writing about Andy Rooney, but the world’s a funny place, and I go where the Lexus news takes me.

I’m sure that most people, after selling or trading in a car, have wondered where it ended up, who the new owners were, how it was getting along. Well, in 2004, the always curious Andy decided to take it one step further and find out the answer:

A few months ago, I traded in my five-year-old Lexus with 85,000 miles on it for a smaller BMW. I worry about what happens to an old friend, so I decided to find out.

The BMW dealer in Connecticut gave me $10,000 on a trade-in, so I started to trace my old car there. All of a sudden, someone stepped in front of the camera and stopped the interview.

Man: Mr. Rooney, we prefer that you don’t film anything inside our dealership, sir.

I felt like Mike Wallace. I figured they must be doing something sneaky. The next day, the owner ruined my story, though, by apologizing and sending me a good letter telling me everything.

It’s a story without many twists and turns, though with that ever-so-clever Rooney wit, it’s still a cute little read. The video segment is also available on the CBS website, should you have a hankering..
